Some point the finger because they fear looking inward. It's easier to don the armor of judgment than to silently confront one's own cracks. They call coldness what is simply tired of bleeding in secret. They call disinterest what has spent too much time trying to be enough for people who never knew how to see beyond the surface. Not all distance is contempt. Sometimes it's survival. Sometimes it's someone trying to pick up the pieces without making a sound so as not to bother anyone. The world has become accustomed to interpreting silences as arrogance, when many of them are simply cries for help spoken in another language. Judging requires little. Haste is enough, a lack of empathy is enough. But understanding… understanding requires courage. Because, deep down, those who constantly attack others are almost always running away from the wars they wage within themselves.
