Do you know the theory that in 21 days you can create or abandon a habit? It was noticed and developed by surgeon Maxwell Maltz in the 60s. Malts noticed that his patients took around 21 days to notice the improvements achieved after surgery and see themselves with their new appearance. Scientifically speaking, our brain takes this time to understand that something new is happening and continuing. At first, like everything in life, it will require a certain effort, but then you almost go into automatic mode. This doesn't mean that you won't want to relapse, but rather that it will be easier to stick to your goal. Thousands of people around the world have already used this method to abandon habits, create new routines, recover from mentally exhausting situations and I am one of them. At the end of 2017 I discovered vegetarianism. I fell in love with everything this philosophy of life delivered, respect, compassion and empathy for animals. It made perfect sense to me and after reading a lot about it, I could no longer ignore those truths that only then did I have access to. I applied the 21-day theory to change my habit and here I am, exactly 4 years without eating meat. It became something that I will carry throughout my life! When I went 9 months without eating meat I started to question why vegans don't eat eggs, milk and their derivatives... I went to investigate and really, many terrible truths came out that I could no longer ignore. There I went again to apply the 21 days to change yet another habit. It's been 3 years and 9 months without consuming any ''food'' of animal origin. Two years ago I did the same thing with sugar; I'm clean lol (meme). I did this with several other things, meditation, less cell phone use, laptop on weekends, reading more, etc. They all became consolidated habits. All required a certain effort; imagine your mother making ribs with cassava, cheese bread, cake, pudding especially for you and you refuse, laughing nervously, afraid of being beaten and of giving into temptation lol. For a girl from Minas Gerais, refusing cheese bread hurt her soul lol. But everything passes and today I don't even feel like it. There are less than 2 months left until the year ends, wouldn't it be the perfect time to register a new habit? I've had the habit for years of putting my house, my life, my plans in order before starting a new year and that makes all the difference! It's natural for me to be organized and methodical, but it still takes some commitment. If you want a different year since last year or to change your life, like I wanted and want, use this tool to your advantage. Of course, to do this you need to be clear about what you want... Give up an addiction, take control of your life, resume your studies, clean up the mess, start training, eat better, take care of your mental health, get to know yourself, change careers, take better care of yourself, prioritize yourself, etc. In 21 days your brain will register this new movement; a little more time and it settles down; There my consecrated, it's just going up lol. Remember, you are the only one responsible for your life being the way it is and also for how it will be next year...
