There is Law 14.132/21 that criminalizes persecution, including on the internet. Previously, the practice was classified as a disturbance of tranquility and had a mild punishment; today the law frames the act as a crime and raises the penalty. Stalking is repeated stalking, including virtual, and will be punished with greater penalties if it is practiced against women. The crime of stalking is defined as repeated persecution, by any means, such as the internet (cyberstalking), which threatens the physical and psychological integrity of someone, interfering with the victim's freedom and privacy. The penalty foreseen is from six months to two years of imprisonment (prison that can be served in a closed regime) and fine. The penalty will be increased by 50% if the crime is committed against women for reasons of female status.
