It's as if I'm slowly shedding the masks I've learned to wear to survive. But in music... There I live... There I inhabit... There I exist... There is no requirement for character, no demand for coherence. There, I am only sensation, memory, and presence. It's as if something essential within me remembers its original form, prior to the world. The rest sometimes sounds like noise to me, the noise of conventions, of performance, of the need to be "someone" for others. But in music, I am no one—and that's why, perhaps, I am whole.
